Note: This section is still under development, when you see a hike you’d like to do and there’s no Komoot or Google Maps Link added yet, usually you’ll find the beginning of the trail by looking up the destination in Google Maps (example: Briksdalsbreen for the “Briksdalsbreen trail”) and from there you follow the signs, red dots and red “T’s”.

No special gear is needed. However, for hikes classified as challenging and expert, you may encounter sections with larger boulders or waterways. It is highly recommended to wear trail or hiking shoes, dress in weather-appropriate clothes, and carry more water and snacks than you think you’ll need.

Rond trips or loops. So generally, this are the totals until you are back at the starting point. To make sure, you can always check the routes on the provided Komoot or UT maps linked for each trail.

No, to have an in-depth glacier experience, you should book a guided tour. Exploring the glacier by yourself is very dangerous.
However, the closest you can get to the glacier is at Haugabreen, and the most spectacular view from a small mountain peak on the glacier is at Flatbreen.

Yes, there are several easy hikes suitable for families, such as the Supphellebreen Hike (3 km, 1-1.5 hours, 100 m elevation gain) and the Briksdalsbreen Hike (6 km, 2-3 hours, 300 m elevation gain).

The best time to visit is from late June to early September when the weather is most favorable and the trails are more accessible. During this period, guided glacier tours are also available.
